Scheduling Update for January 2014 - Unfortunately we are not going to be able to attend the Jr. Honors Weekend this year that is scheduled for January 17-19, 2014. 

Be on the lookout for some other scheduling changes to happen in February and March of this year.  We will keep you posted when these plans are discussed with the staff and finalized.

We were so excited to see everyone last week for our first meeting.  We are so glad you joined us this year and we're looking forward to having an awesome year. 

Please remember to finish your paperwork for next week and pay your registration fee ($60) if you haven't had a chance to do that yet.  We need all of that completed as soon as possible. 

Thanks for being such an awesome group of Pathfinders and we'll see you Wednesday.
July 26, 2013 - Registration is Coming

We are busy working on the schedule for the 2013-2014 Pathfinder year and have some exciting things planned.  Remember, this is the "Forever Faithful" international camporee year and anyone who is wanting to be part of that awesome experience next August will need to be part of our club this year.  Please plan on joining us this year and be prepared to have an awesome time. 

Registration:  August 11th will be the registration date for this year, from 2-4 PM.  It will take place in the KAS gym and will be happening at the same time as Knoxville Adventist School Registration.  Please be sure to bring any updated information with you (immunizations, etc.) and plan on at least a $50 registration fee (may be more because of it being the year that the "Forever Faithful" international camporee is being held).  If you would like to save time at registration, click on the tab to the left that says "forms/helps". On this page is a section entitled "registration". Print these five forms out and fill them in before August 11th and it will save a lot of time on that Sunday. 

We are looking forward to seeing you all at registration and excited about our upcoming Pathfinder year.  See you soon.

We hope that everyone has been having an awesome summer so far.  We have been able to finally look through the rest of the pictures that wrapped up our Pathfinder year and have posted them on the website under pictures.  Hope you enjoy reminiscing on all fun we had.  Enjoy the rest of your summer and we hope to see most of you there next year.

INVESTITURE TONIGHT! Be there at 6pm with your favorite soup/chili and a bread item to share in a potluck dinner. The ceremony will follow immediately after we eat. See you all there. Class A required pathfinders.

Teen Challenge is Coming Soon!

Hi guys. Teen Challenge is on the way. It is November 30-December 2. BRRRR! Anyway, the theme this year is "DECEMBER 21, 2012: WHAT IF? The activities and events will be centered around last-day events and survival skills. We will be eating and camping in tents as a club. No one will have to eat out of a diaper.

The cost for this campout will be $45. We'll have it be due November 14. However, I do need to register us before then, so I'll need to know who is going. Let me know as soon as possible. I'll be asking Wednesday for commitments. So if you say that you're going, you're going. Talk to you soon.

Camporee- LOTS of important information

Camping List
Florida is just around the corner and we are working on things to prepare for this awesome trip.  We are excited and can't wait...just over 2 weeks until we head out.  With that being said we need your help also.  We have posted an UPDATED camping list for the Florida trip.  There are a few extra things that we are asking you to bring that you normally don't need and these things will have to be purchased before you start packing.  Please check this list, so you are not having to do it all at the last minute. 

Payment
Remember that this Wednesday, the 26th, the second $50 is due if you are following the payment plan.  By this Wednesday there should be $160 paid towards the trip, with only $40 to be due the next Wednesday, the 3rd.  Again, this is just a suggestion on how to pay for the trip, but please remember we need the total amount of $200 before we leave on October 9th.  We will be contacting those of you who have not paid the total amount of $160 up to this point to settle up.

Paperwork and Medical History
It is imperative that we have ALL paperwork in A.S.A.P.  There are a few files that we have missing still and we need them.  As far as the Pathfinders medical history, fortunately we have all of the paperwork from everyone last year, this includes everyone's immunization records.  We can use these records IF we get a parents signature saying that there has not been any changes and everything is up to date.  If your child has gotten any new shots (mostly this would apply to 7th graders) we will need a new immunization form for their file.  This Wednesday we will be pulling parents aside to sign the old immunization forms so that everyone's file will be current before we head to Florida.  If you are needing to get a new immunization form we need these asap and must have them before the 9th of October when we leave.

Uniforms
Please, please, please remember that the full Class A uniform is required for this trip.  Time is getting away from us and if you don't order the parts that you need you will run out of time to get them here before we leave.  Click here to take you to AdventSource if you need to order parts.
Also, this Wednesday we will be going over the patches that everyone earned last year and finish ordering them so that they can be sewn onto your sash before we leave.  Please be thinking about what patches you didn't receive last year so that we can order them for you on Wednesday

Fundraising
Remember to gather sponsors for your cycling mileage and to sell our applesauce. Click here to go to the forms for both cycling and applesauce.  PLEASE NOTE:  On some of the old order forms sugar-free cinnamon applesauce is listed.  We do not have this favor in pints or quarts and this option has been removed on a revised form found at the link above.

Camporee Payment Plan/Applesauce/Bike Ride/Uniforms/Fundraising

Camporee Payment
If you are following the payment plan schedule for the Camporee, $50 was due last Wednesday(the 12th), and another $50 due next Wednesday(the 26th), with the final $40 due by the time we leave. This, of course, is not a mandatory schedule. We were just trying to help space the money out a little bit.

Applesauce
Please sell applesauce! We need each pathfinder to try and bring in 10 orders. Just making the applesauce doesn't make us any money. It just clutters up the storage room. So please help by getting neighbors, family, and friends to buy some fantastic pathfinder applesauce.

Bike Ride
This weekend a group of pathfinders, parents, and staff got together during the Sabbath in the Smokies event at Cades Cove. We met before 7am to bike the Cove Loop, an 11.2 mile paved train through the park. It was beautiful! You couldn't have hand-picked a better morning and way to enjoy Sabbath in nature. I want to personally recognize the pathfinders who showed up, as well as parents and staff who supported their pathfinder and showed up for this event. I have spoken to many of you personally and you know who you are. Thank you for your support! I know some pathfinders had legitimate reasons for not being there, but some do not. This is very frustrating as a director. We try very hard to plan a yearly schedule that is fun, spiritual, and full of learning while at the same time a safe place for youth. Everyone signed paperwork stating that you understood pathfinders to be an "active" program and consented your support of that program. I understand that people are busy. I am as well. But, to have pathfinders and parents pick and choose which events they are going to participate in throughout the year is something I struggle with. Please understand that I do not plan to try and "force" anyone to do something they don't want to do, but I would like to respectfully remind everyone of their commitment to this organization.

Uniforms
Please make sure everyone has a full Class-A uniform. Camporee is coming quickly and if you need to order pieces, DO SO NOW!

Bike Riding Fundraising
Please be getting people to sponsor you to ride the 80 miles required for the Cycling honor. This is a profitable and easy way to earn money for your pathfinder year. The forms and a tracking sheet can be found on this website.

Bike-a-thon Pledge Letter and Tracking Sheet

Click here to take you to the Pledge Letter and Tracking sheet for our Bike-a-thon this year.  Both forms can also be found under "Forms/Helps" on the menu to the left.

You can print out as many of the pledge forms that you have sponsors for.  Each sponsor will need a letter.  You will only need one or two copies of the tracking sheet, depending on how many sponsors you .  This form will help you keep track of who your sponsors are, their information and the amount that they have pledged.  Please try to keep a good record of your contributions.  We would like to see all of you send a thank you note to those who helped you with this fundraiser.  Having this tracking sheet will help you find their information easily.

We're On Our Way!

Well, Pathfinders has officially started and we are gearing up for a great year together! As we fine-tune the schedule, we are bound to find some things that don't fit quite as well as we'd hoped they would. This is what has happened with one of our events, the Applesauce Lock-In, scheduled for October 20. As it turns out, that is Fall Break for KAS and also a home leave weekend for many of the academies. So we thought maybe we'd do it this next Saturday night, September 8.

With this fall being so packed with the Camporee and all, it is tough to fit everything in. But the Applesauce Lock-in is such a good fundraiser, we can't cancel it. That being said, I need some input as to who could attend this weekend were we to have it. I know it is short notice but that is the way it goes sometimes. Please check out the "Sign-up For Events" link on this website to let me know if you are able to come.

While you are there, please fill out the Cades Cove registration form for the bike ride. Be sure to read all the information regarding that event. Each person coming will need a form submitted.
